Book #2 from the series: Peter Dumas Mystery Series

Ready Aim Murder

A Peter Dumas Mystery

About

When an account executive at a successful Chicago Ad agency goes missing while shooting a bike commercial in Florida, the agency founder invites Peter Dumas to help. The prominent clairvoyant quickly discovers that a Comanche arrow found its target in the ad man.   What’s more, the arrow’s delivery of death would not be its last.

With 13 other guests including friends and agency personal, Peter and close pal David Arnstein head to the Ryerson compound on the shores of Lake Winnebago for a Christmas week celebration and an unrelenting snowstorm. And once again, the arrow readies its aim at a cross-country skier, a Mohican foster parent, the tire of a Ford truck, filled with family.

It’s not all murder and mayhem.  Chicago scenes unwrap the history and magic of the city’s Gold Coast .  What’s more romance begins to bud, as well. All the while, Peter’s mind movies send him on the trail of clues to a brutal killer with a deadly aim.

Praise for this book

This book is so well-organized! With the table of contents, dates at the beginning of sections, locations at the beginning of chapters—I felt like I was able to figure out the mystery along with Peter, which is always an exciting feeling to have whenever reading a mystery novel. I also enjoyed the details that helped the murder be discovered, even down to the ear being fully formed at birth, aiding the use of the earrings as evidence (though towards the end, but still important information). There was truly no wasted detail, which speaks to the pacing of this story. I at first thought that it was starting off a bit too slow, building context for both Peter and the VP, but I should’ve known prior that this would prove to be helpful. Overall, great read!
